VHH Residence - Kluisbergen, Belgium

Situated on a remote plot in rural Flanders, the design for the VHH Residence was part of a private competition. The program consisted of a single-family dwelling and guesthouse. Both volumes, partially embedded in the sloping terrain, are connected by means of a corridor, starting from the carport on the right side of the guesthouse, climbing up an outdoor covered staircase, onto the private terraces providing spectacular views over the adjacent valley.

Combining two basic articulated concrete volumes and freestanding walls, the outdoor spaces around the building shape the landscape and create a spatial continuum between interior and exterior.
